EarSighted launched!   Monday, August 20, 2012

We are pleased to announce the launch of EarSighted, a free visual to auditory sensory substitution training program.

EarSighted is based on “The vOICe”, a visual to auditory sensory substitution system created by Peter Meijer. Using The vOICe, blind and visually impaired users have been able to experience a kind of “sight” through their ears.

Unfortunately, learning to use The vOICe can be difficult. Many psychologists assert that “there is no perception without action”, and users have limited interaction with The vOICe. (One interaction per second.) We have created EarSighted in the hope that providing users with a way of interacting in real time will both make “seeing with sound” easier to learn, and more like true sensory perception.
